Redblacks\u0027 Lorenzo Mauldin IV finalist for CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player award
On Tuesday, Mauldin, a defensive end for the Ottawa Redblacks, was named the CFL East Division’s finalist for Most Outstanding Defensive Player. During a disappointing season by the Redblacks, Mauldin has said it over and over; it was never about the individual success, he wanted his team to win more football games. “It’s good to get the single accolades,” said Mauldin, who will be a free agent next season unless the Redblacks can get him signed. “But the W’s are the accolade we all really want.”veryone talks about his sacks, but he’s exceptionally physical and integral to our run defence. He’s a leader on that defence.”
Toronto Argonauts receiver Kurleigh Gittens Jr., who’s from Ottawa, is the East finalist for Most Outstanding Canadian. He’ll be up against B.C. QB Nathan Rourke for the award.
