People were lined up for more than a block on Besserer Steet by 11:30 a.m. Monday, waiting for their chance to pick up a fully trimmed turkey dinner from the Ottawa Mission’s kitchen. “People are suffering; they’re struggling and they can’t go to the grocery store to fill their list so they’re coming here for their meals or going to the food truck for their meals,” Tilley said. Mark and Candace Smith brought their two-year-old son, Quinton, in a red wagon from their home in Sandy Hill.
