'Realistic' King Charles took 'no offence' to $5 note snub and is 'well aware' monarchy is 'losing popularity' in Australia, royal expert claims
The royal expert said the King was “realistic” and understood the monarchy “needs a younger generation” to garner new public support.
The royal commentator said it wasn’t too long ago that the 1999 Australian republic referendum was held, where only 60 per cent of people voted to retain the monarchy.“Barbados has already declared itself to be a republic.“They are not going to intervene, they are not going to campaign.” The Reserve Bank of Australia has confirmed on Thursday that King Charles III would not replace his late mother Queen Elizabeth II on the nation's $5 note.
