West Shore RCMP is investigating after a man allegedly discharged a firearm near Jordie Lunn Bike Park in Langford early Monday.

Around 12:25 a.m., police received multiple 911 calls from residents in the area of Irwin Road, saying they heard two or three “loud bangs” nearby. One witness said they interacted with a lone male suspect who brandished a firearm. While RCMP’s police dog section attended and located bullet casings at a nearby construction site, the suspect was not found. Its serious crime unit is now investigating the incident, and officers have canvassed the area, searching for witnesses and video surveillance.
“West Shore RCMP has not received any other reports of firearms being discharged in this manner. We wish to advise the public of this crime and ask that you report any suspicious activity right away by calling police,” said RCMP Insp.
