Malaysia’s first all-female music festival, Queendom Fest, will take place in Kuala Lumpur this December

female rapper Zamaera is set to make history by organising her inaugural music festival, known as Queendom Fest, a first-of-its-kind, all-female music festival and creative playground.

The lineup includes the iconic girl groups Dolla, Meliha, The Impatient Sisters and Lil Asian Thiccie, as well as rappers Hullera, SYA and Yunohoo, who will also grace the stage, along with DJs MJisvicious and Jovynn. The inception of Queendom Fest took root nearly two years ago when Zamaera, whose full name is Sharifah Zamaera Syed Zafilen Al Edros, organised a personal pop-up tour covering Penang, Kuching, Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur.

“Just last year alone, out of over 14 festivals and showcases, 84% of the performers on stage were males. The music scene is ever-growing, and we are seeing more and more emerging female artists. I feel that should reflect the opportunities that we provide to these female creatives. In the name of inclusivity, equality and just a genuine love for the arts and culture, I want to see a brighter future for the female creatives of this nation.
