Heading into the Century Downs World Finals, which run from Wednesday to Sunday at Century Downs Racetrack and Casino just north of Calgary, Croteau is sitting fourth in the WPCA standings behind Layne MacGillivray, Obrey Motowylo and Kurt Bensmiller. “He’s been clean and consistent,” said Croteau of MacGillivray. “Unless something drastically changes when it comes down to penalties and stuff like that, none of us will catch him. I’m going to bet my money on Layne.”
“The horses have really been working good for us. They’re running strong, so hopefully they can continue on this weekend and we’ll get finished up here on a positive note.” The world title isn’t the only thing that will be on the line at Century Downs Racetrack and Casino this week. “It would be a feather in the cap, for sure,” said MacGillivray of what it would mean to win that final dash and the $30,000 prize that goes with it. “It would be a pretty good show to win. There’s lots on the line on the last day.”
