WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT A Queensland MP has sparked outrage by killing a dog, believed to be feral and suspected of fatally mauling a prized ram, and posting a photo of the kill to social media. Steven Andrew revealed he shot and killed the canine when it came to his property a second time, after it had killed “a $25,000 ram trying to protect his herd”. “It was so good he came back for seconds,” Andrew wrote on Facebook with a photo of the dog’s carcass draped over the bonnet of a 4WD.
” The One Nation MP, for the Mackay region electorate of Mirani, defended his actions in the comments after people described the slaying as “despicable”, “disgraceful” and “narrow-minded”. He said the ram “was eaten from the back-end half alive” and “would have had a slow death” because of the dog that has “just got a hankering for expensive domestic sheep”. “I have people in my patch that will not walk around at night because of dogs,” Andrew wrote.
