Queensland schools will have the option of implementing four-day weeks for students next year after the state government reportedly gave the final green light for the long-standing proposal. The education department has written to schools to provide a blueprint to change class hours from Term 1, 2024, the Courier Mail reports.
The push for four-day school weeks in Queensland. A small number of schools have been trialling the shorter week this year. Education Minister Grace Grace said in October she has been “consulting with all schools in relation to school hours”. It is hoped the plan will ease stress on teachers by allowing them more time to prepare lessons, as well as support students to undertake vocational education. The minister is set to hold a press conference on Thursday. More to come ...
