A Queensland woman has miraculously been found after surviving more than a week in bush terrain by drinking water from puddles.

Rikki Leigh Mitchell was last seen at Reid River rest stop between Townsville and Charters Towers in Queensland’s north on May 1.

Detective Inspector Jason Shepherd admitted authorities had grown concerned after Ms Mitchell had been missing for more than seven days and her tale of survival was “remarkable”.“Hopes were fading for Rikki’s safe return and her survival is nothing short of remarkable,” he said. Detective Shepherd revealed the mother-of-four had survived by drinking water from puddles after only having a litre of water initially and no phone or food supplies.
