BREAKING ‘Why isn’t he here?’: Rebuke in court as high-profile man charged with rape
A high-profile man charged with rape had his matter heard in a Queensland court on Wednesday.Defence lawyer Rowan King leaves Toowoomba Magistrates Court after appearing for a high-profile man charged with rape.He did not appear in the Toowoomba Magistrate’s Court, prompting a rebuke from magistrate Kay Ryan.The man’s lawyer, Rowan King, said his client was in Tasmania and could not be present for medical reasons.
The accused has been charged with rape over an alleged incident in October 2021. This was the first time the matter passed before a court, and the man has remained on bail. Outside court, King was surrounded by a throng of journalists as he made his way to his car. He did not answer any questions.They had until February 15 to complete it.
