Queensland's new 'comprehensive blueprint' for its 10-year health plan was released the same day as a document revealing the tragic cost of the state's 'crumbling' healthcare system.
HEALTHQ32 is billed as a “vision for the future of healthcare in Queensland” for the decade leading to 2032.
The plan aims to boost the health workforce across the state by increasing staff mobility, developing new models for surgical services and working with universities to increase student intake in related medical fields. The healthcare plan builds on the Palaszczuk government’s $9.78 billion investment in the Queensland Health and Hospitals Plan, which will see three new hospitals built and 11 hospitals expanded.
In a “code 1A case”, a woman with chest pain died after waiting 51 minutes for an ambulance to arrive due to “nil resources in the area”. “Queenslanders deserve an ambulance to arrive when they call for help but yet again people have been failed because the Palaszczuk Government can’t run the health system."has found that ambulance ramping rates have soared 25 per under the Palaszczuk Government.
