Secretary of the Department of Home Affairs Mike Pezzullo says acting PwC CEO Kristin Stubbins has outlined what the firm is doing to “remediate” the issues.He told a Senate estimates hearing on Monday morning he was personally “taking a very close view of any new contracting that we do” with the firm, and also revealed that acting PwC chief executive Kristin Stubbins had already “reached out” to explain what the firm was doing to “remediate” its operations.

The treasurer, who has repeatedly criticised the firm, also said PwC’s behaviour was “inexcusable” given corporate Australia wanted to be consulted on the changes that affected it. An extra review had been conducted into the six contracts to ensure that confidentiality agreements had been adhered to and “no risks” had been raised, said Home Affairs chief operating officer Justine Saunders.
