A Pentagon official has made a bold prediction about the war that is set to anger the Russian President, as the Kremlin makes new allegations about an attempted attack on its soil.
Russia is not expected to make"significant territorial gains" in the second year of the Ukraine war, a senior Pentagon official has predicted.
However, the United States' latest prediction could be a concern for President Putin who would likely be seething atColin Kahl, the United States' Under Secretary of Defence for Policy, suggested in a House of Representatives Hearing on Tuesday that Russian soldiers will make little advancements within Ukraine's land.
His remarks were made during a hearing about the billions of dollars of military and humanitarian aid Washington had provided to Ukraine since the invasion. Russian forces have stepped up their efforts around the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut in a desperate attempt to cut its supply lines. Ukraine said it was able to repel more than 60 attacks so far as shelling continued and more Russian forces were strengthened in the past few days.
