Violent and repeat offenders could soon be banned from dating apps after experts called on the federal government to tighten regulations in response to the alleged murder of Dannielle Finlay-Jones.

It comes after a report from the Australian Institute of Criminology showed a third of dating app users have experienced sexual violence in person over the past five years. Violent and repeat offenders could soon be banned from dating apps after experts called on the federal government to tighten regulations.

“It has had a really big toll...we did speak to ministers yesterday and called on them to take action, and we're really pleased to see them stepping up," she said. “It’s just around ensuring that to go on an app, that you register your details and have ID checks," she said.
