PSA Singapore achieved a record-breaking 2024, handling over 40 million twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containers for the first time. TEU is a unit of measurement used to determine cargo capacity for container ships and terminals. PSA attributed the milestone to its 'continued growth and operational excellence', driven by a 'steadfast commitment to ensuring resilient, efficient, and sustainable cargo flow'. The company emphasized its crucial role in global trade and connectivity.
The Port of Shanghai handled 49.16 million TEUs in 2023, with PSA ranking second. PSA International CEO Ong Kim Pong stated the company will 'strive to strengthen the synergies between our port operations and port-adjacent services', integrating advanced technology with operational expertise. He also reiterated their commitment to being a reliable global port operator and trusted partner. Nelson Quek, PSA International's regional CEO for Southeast Asia, added that the company will collaborate with public and private sector partners to deliver new capacity and capabilities, strengthening Singapore's role as a critical node in global trade.
