The province paid tribute to the millions of people who died in what is considered to be the worst act of genocide in history.
January 27 is marked as International Holocaust Remembrance Day when some 6 million Jews and many others were murdered in a systematic and deliberate way by the Nazis in WWII.January 27 was the date on which the Auschwitz Concentration Camp was liberated by Soviet troops. The theme of this year’s day of remembrance was “Home and Belonging,” to highlight the lives of the victims of the Holocaust and their surviving families, and to remind the world of the importance of countering disinformation, anti-Semitism, hate speech and inaction.
