We have more detail now on that $30 million relief package from the provincial government for impacted residents on the southwest coast.
The Red Cross will be given $500,000 to disburse. Half of it will go to support claims for immediate assistance, for example, removal of debris; the other $250,000 to provide temporary accommodation assistance. Financial assistance associated with a principal place of residence repairs and/or rebuilds will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, with support from residents and insurance companies as applicable.
