Debbie Markey’s son says she had ‘found her purpose’ looking after international workers, before she was killed in a horror collision.

Debbie Markey, who died in a crash in Strathmerton along with four others, pictured with her son Daniel.Markey was driving four of her JBS abattoir colleagues – all from overseas – home about 2.20pm when her Nissan Navara was hit by a Mercedes at the Labuan Road intersection at Strathmerton. The Nissan was spun into the path of a truck on the Murray Valley Highway, killing all five instantly.
“Her life has not been easy but she really found her purpose looking after these foreign nationals,” he said in a statement. The four international workers - three women and one man - were in their 20s and were from Hong Kong and Taiwan.
