The Proton X70 gets a new Premium X variant that is offered in a new Quartz Black option. This is the new highest-spec model for the 1.5L TGDi-powered X70.
Essentially, you are paying RM3,000 extra for the sunroof on top of the Premium 2WD model. It’s also merely RM2,000 cheaper than the 1.8L 4-cylinder turbo-powered Premium model. If you don’t like Quartz Black, the Premium X is also offered in Space Grey and Snow White.
To recap, the 1.5L TGDi engine produces 174hp and 255Nm of torque, while the 1.8L TGDi engine produces 181hp and 300Nm of torque. According to Proton, the 1.5L 3-cylinder engine offers 7% reduction in fuel consumption in urban cycle and it can heat its peak torque earlier at 1,500rpm versus 1,750rpm on the 1.8L engine.
The rest of the X70 remains pretty much unchanged as the Premium X still gets Nappa leather seats, 8″ infotainment system, power tailgate, boss switches and advanced driver assistance systems such as autonomous emergence braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, door opening warning system and blindspot information system.
