A man who fathers more than 550 children has been ordered to stop donating sperm by a Dutch court in another fertility scandal to hit the Netherlands.
A foundation aiming to protect the rights of donor children and the mother of one of the children took the man, named Jonathan M in Dutch media, to court.
The court"prohibits the defendant from donating his semen to new prospective parents after the issuing of this judgement," judge Hesselink said. "The donor deliberately misinformed prospective parents about the number of children he had already fathered in the past," the district court in The Hague said.
His lawyer Richard van der Zwan brushed off concerns of inbreeding in the future due to the large volume of children that now share the same DNA.
