The April 3 election was a good night for Progressive Conservative supporters in Summerside. The party gained three seats in the area, taking Summerside-Wilmot, Summerside-South Drive and Tyne Valley-Sherbrooke.

“There’s been a lot of work put into this,” said Barb Ramsay, PC candidate in Summerside-South, adding it feels good to see not only her win but the win of the Progressive Conservative party across Prince Edward Island.In Ramsay’s opinion, health care was the top issue in this election. “It's a disappointing result for sure,” Howard told SaltWire. “We did kind of see the writing on the walls, with the polls and the blue tide going. We were really hoping to be able to hold in Summerside, but it doesn't look like that's what the voters have decided.”
