A married librarian who struck up a behind bars romance with a prison inmate has been spared an immediate jail sentence.
Alli Black, the Governor of HMP Kirkham said: ""Where an inappropriate relationship develops, the authority of that staff member and other members of staff is dimished." She said staff could be exploited into conveying drugs or mobile phones into prison if professional boundaries were not upheld. He said Mawdsley has now separated from her husband, however he wrote a letter to the court in support of his ex wife.
