The 43-year-old man escaped for an hour from Long Bay jail just after 12pm yesterday and allegedly assaulted a woman in her home at Esperance Close, in Little Bay, before carjacking a vehicle in the same street.A crime scene was set up outside Long Bay jail in Sydney after a prisoner allegedly escaped and carjacked a woman yesterday.."Officers from St George Police Area Command were notified and after a short foot pursuit, he was arrested in the same street about 1.

The man was charged with escaping from lawful custody, two counts of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner and two counts of take and detain person with intent to obtain advantage.There were no reports of any person being seriously injured.Continue reading
