Prince William has spoken out after multiple British foot guards fainted during a parade review for King Charles' first Trooping the Colour.
Photos from the rehearsal on Saturday showed the heir to the British throne donning an iconic bearskin in preparation for the military parade.
At least three guardsmen fainted during the ceremony, in which more than 1,400 soldiers of the Household Division and the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery are reviewed by William as honorary Colonel of the Welsh Guards. A standard issue bearskin is made from the fur of the Canadian black bear, while an officer's bearskin is made from the thicker fur of the Canadian brown bear and dyed black.
The hatmakers purchase between 50 and 100 black bear skins each year at a cost of about £650 each, although a hat can last decades.
