Queen Elizabeth’s youngest son Prince Edward has paid a touching tribute to the late monarch in his annual Christmas card for the first festive season since his mother’s death.

On Tuesday, Prince Edward and Sophie were photographed arriving at Windsor Castle for the Royal Family's annual pre-Christmas lunch hosted this year for the first time by King Charles III.

On his podcast, Zara Tindall's husband Mike Tindall revealed there are traditionally seven tables at the event with one set aside for the children. "The kiddies have their own little one in a different room," the co-host of The Good, The Bad & The Rugby said. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not in attendance and it is understood they will spend the holidays with their two children Archie, three, and Lilibet, one, at their home in Montecito, California.
