With Saquon Barkley likely out, the New York Giants could be in for a similar beating to the one they took Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys

After going the first game and a half of the season without scoring a point, Daniel Jones led the Giants to 31 in the last two quarters of a dramatic comeback victory over the Cardinals last Sunday. Key word in that sentence: Cardinals. The Arizona ‘D’ is similar to the Niners ‘D’ only in the sense that both have 11 players on the field at the same time. If the group of 11 used by the Niners isn’t the best in the league, it’s top three.

Barkley is good at so many things, including his ability to provide a dangerous quick release for his quarterback. Replacing him will be Matt Breida, who spent the first three seasons of his career with the Niners, and sixth-round pick Gary Brightwell, which means the drop-off will be significant … The Niners are playing their home opener after scoring 30 points in Pittsburgh against a staunch Steelers defence and 30 in L.A. against the Chargers.
