Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has blamed the Coalition and Greens for his government’s struggles to pass its Help to Buy and Build to Rent housing bills.
The bills seek to address the nation's housing crisis , as Help to Buy provides funds to homebuyers and Build to Rent offers tax incentives to investors building rental homes.
Mr Albanese said at a press conference: “Peter Dutton trying to stop us from putting this bill into law, and the Greens working to support him. We need that to end.” Mr Albanese emphasised the importance of the Help to Buy scheme which involves a shared equity arrangement between the government and home buyers.
The Greens have demanded a national freeze and a cap on rent increases as well as additional funding for public housing.
