Eight teams seeking Bronze Baby championship at U Sports Final 8 this week
The Cape Breton Capers will host the 2023 U Sports Women's Final 8 Basketball Championship this week at Sullivan Field House in Sydney. The tournament will begin on Thursday. CONTRIBUTEDSYDNEY, N.S. — For the first time in its history, Cape Breton University will host the U Sports Women’s Final 8 Championship this week in Sydney.
The event will begin on Thursday with the quarterfinal games. The Citadins will play the Gaels at 11:30 a.m., followed by the Axewomen and Pandas at 2 p.m., Dinos and Huskies at 5:30 p.m., and the Capers against the Ravens at 8 p.m.No. 2 seed – Alberta Pandas – Edmonton, Alta.No. 5 seed – Calgary Dions – Calgary, Alta.No. 7 seed – Acadia Axewomen – Wolfville, N.S.No.
Carleton is led offensively by Kali Pocrnic, who averaged 16.3 points per game in the regular season. Jacqueline Urban and Dorcas Buisa round out the top three in points. Urban was also third in the Ontario conference in rebounds .
