In a move Ontario says will make transit easier for passengers in the 905, the province’s Presto credit payment program is expanding to more areas outside of Toronto.
Beginning Jan. 23, riders on Durham Region Transit, York Regional Transit, Burlington Transit and Hamilton Street Railway can tap their credit cards on Presto devices to pay for their commute.
Union Pearson Express customers were the first to enjoy this payment option, as riders have been able to tap to ride the airport-downtown line since 2021. “Whether it is a tourist exploring Hamilton for the first time or a resident needing to connect to the region, there has never been a more convenient time to take transit,” said Andrea Horwath, Hamilton’s mayor, in a written statement.
