Vancouver-based, Barbadian Canadian writer Jasmine Sealy has two stories in the 12-story strong anthology. “Short stories mimic the way we naturally tell stories in our everyday lives — as concise, contained narratives that can be shared in the span of a single conversation or gathering. Short stories are the most human of stories,” Sealy said in an email.
After reading the stories, some multiple times, was Chariandy inspired to try his hand at short story writing?Article content “I’ve been lucky to follow Canadian writing, Canadian Black writing for a very long time, and I know the talent that’s out there. No one who reads Canadian literature cannot know about the talents of the many Black writers in Canada. It’s just self-evident,” said Chariandy.
