His visit coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China, following the signing of the Joint Communiqué between second prime minister Tun Abdul Razak Hussein and then-Chinese Premier Chou En Lai on May 31, 1974. The premier said the growth of China-Malaysia relations has brought tangible benefits to our peoples and made positive contribution to peace and development in the region.
