At the opening bell, the benchmark FBM KLCI was down 0.53 points to 1,458.9.
The winning streak on Wall Street is also expected to inspire the rally on the domestic market as recent strong US economic data indicates a soft landing despite the Federal Reserve's aggressive interest rate hikes.
However, Malacca Securities Research expects the positive trend on the key index to continue as foreign funds extend their buying interest in local stocks. "Moving forward, investors will be keeping a close tab on the manufacturing data from Malaysia, China and the US to provide further leads on the health of the economy," it said in its market review.
