Speculation began in February that a franchise of the popular chicken chain would soon open in Cape Breton. That anticipation stemmed from theWhile that restaurant isn’t yet close to opening, Keel Brands Limited president Mark Greatorex confirmed with the Cape Breton Post that it has its eyes set on bringing the restaurant to Sydney soon.
The building on 412 Grand Lake Road in Sydney, formerly a Needs convenience store, next to a Tim Hortons restaurant. Dartmouth company Keel Brands Limited has leased the vacant property and intends to renovate it into a Popeyes Chicken restaurant - the third in Nova Scotia. The first Popeyes in the province opened in March 2022 in Bedford and was met with an incredibly warm reception. In fact, many chicken enthusiasts flocked to the restaurant in its first weeks and endured hours-long waits to get their hands on the Cajun-inspired meals.
