Police have swarmed an Adelaide street as they respond to a 'high risk incident', with residents told to avoid the area.

South Australia police are responding to a"high-risk incident" in Adelaide's north-east.

Police swarmed the streets of Campbelltown on Saturday afternoon, with the public urged to avoid the area. Streets have been blocked off while officers including from Special Tasks and Rescue are at the scene. "Police have responded to a high risk incident at Campbelltown," South Australia Police said in a statement.

"Hill Street, Victor Road, Elm Road and surrounding streets have been blocked off. Please avoid the area."
