The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 in the Philippines has successfully seized 430 loose firearms and 10 explosives, arresting 117 individuals during 410 operations in preparation for the May midterm elections. This initiative aims to ensure the integrity and safety of the electoral process. The PRO 7 conducted the crackdown from January 1-31, 2025, under the revitalized Oplan Katok program and Kontra Boga operations. Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan, head of the Central Visayas police, stated that the aim is to prevent potential chaos and fear during the election period.
