THUNDER BAY — Police officers were able to rescue a child from a barricaded room after a weapons incident in a north-side Thunder Bay home on the weekend.
A man was arrested and charged with numerous offences including assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, break and enter, and assaulting a police officer. According to the Thunder Bay Police Service, officers were dispatched Saturday just before 9 p.m. to a home in the zero-to-100 block of Albany Street.
When they arrived they observed a window near the entrance had been broken, and they encountered a man who threatened them while brandishing a knife. After learning that two individuals were barricaded in a room inside the house, multiple officers were able to remove a child victim through a window, but a second victim remained inside. Police say the 36-year-old accused, who is known to the victims, also assaulted an officer while in custody.
