THUNDER BAY -- Police are requesting the public avoid an area encompassing several blocks in Thunder Bay's south end, citing an ongoing investigation.
The situation presents a potential risk to public safety, said a Thunder Bay Police Service representative, adding the force has significant resources in the area. Motorists and other members of the public are asked to avoid the area if Donald Street East, Syndicate Avenue South, Simpson Street/Arthur Street East, and May Street South.
In a brief statement issued Friday around 4:20 p.m., the Thunder Bay Police Service did not provide further details on the situation, or whether it involved a threat to public safety.
