KUALA LUMPUR: Investigations have started after a video on social media alleged that a policeman extorted money from a foreign woman.
Acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Yahaya Othman said in a statement on Monday that the video apparently showed a policeman conducting an inspection near the Memorial Tunku Abdul Rahman signboard at Bulatan Datuk Onn here.
"Preliminary investigations showed that the complainant alleged in a video that the extortion occurred after to produce identification," he said. He added that those identified will be called in to give their statements at the Dang Wangi police headquarters. Earlier in the day, it was alleged in a TikTok video that a Chinese national had been extorted after she failed to produce her passport.Article type: free
