PETALING JAYA: Ops Selamat and Ops Lancar will be conducted as the country gears up for the Hari Raya celebrations.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said Ops Lancar, which focuses on areas with high traffic flow, would be launched on April 18 and 19.
Traffic police, with help from members of the People’s Volunteer Corps , would be mobilised holistically and systematically to reduce traffic congestion at highways and trunk roads, he said in a statement yesterday.“In conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department will conduct Ops Selamat with the theme ‘Rumah Selamat, Sampai ke Destinasi’ .
“The focus of this operation is to ensure smooth traffic flow, reduce road accidents and house break-ins, and to ensure the safety of property and homes during the festive period,” he added. Acryl Sani said crime prevention efforts would be focused on residential areas, business properties and houses of worship.“Road users should keep up to date with the latest traffic information via Malaysian Highway Authority portals and official channels, as well as other highway concessionaires, in addition to using navigation applications to plan their trips,” he added.
