An Adelaide court heard the victim was 15 years old when police officer Jordan Lloyd Koch sexually assaulted her, after he engaged in grooming behaviour including sexualised comments.

The District Court heard the victim was 15 years old when Koch sexually assaulted her, after "testing the waters" with behaviour including sexualised comments. Judge Liesl Kudelka sentenced Koch to three years and three months jail with a non-parole period of 20 months.The court heard the victim had been deeply affected by the abuse and continued to suffer from mental health issues associated with the offending."She told you that she is grieving the little girl she feels she's lost, she's also lost sleep, had panic attacks, developed an eating disorder and felt like life was no longer worth living," Judge Kudelka said.
At the end of her sentencing Judge Kudelka gave a message directly to the victim, who was in court with her family. "I truly hope that you get back and are able to complete your education and that you find a lot of strength in what you have achieved in this process," Judge Kudelka told the teenager.The teenager whispered a teary "thank you" as the judge left the bench.
