The girl died on January 4 from severe dehydration, and while initial reports suggested possible food poisoning from mushrooms consumed at the party, police are conducting a full investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
TACLOBAN CITY – The Palo Municipal Police Station in Leyte belied reports that a 12-year-old girl was gang-raped by her friends during a birth anniversary party in Palo on Jan. 3.
The attending physician confirmed the cause of death as hypovolemic shock secondary to severe dehydration. Food poisoning was also noted as a possible contributing factor.
