The Queensland Police Commissioner has conceded the service’s efforts to undertake significant reform is taking its toll on officers, as she cancelled a program for frontline staff.
Katarina Carroll issued a lengthy statement on Wednesday to officers explaining she would be discontinuing the Service Delivery Program, after concerns raised by officers and the police union.
The QPS reviewed codes 1 to 4, and later added code 5, saying the new system was a way to assist officers to prioritise requests based on the details of each callout. Carroll told officers that Ernst and Young had conducted an independent review into the effectiveness of the program, and had found some benefits, but ultimately determined it needed to be scrapped.
