Royal Newfoundland Constabulary arrested and charged a 32-year-old man with firearms offences following an incident in Labrador City on Wednesday, Jan. 18. — FILE PHOTOLABRADOR CITY, N.L. — Police arrested and charged a 32-year-old man with firearms offences after an incident in Labrador City on Wednesday.

Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers responded to a call in the Tamarack Drive area shortly before 7 p.m. Officers received information that a man might be driving in the area with a loaded firearm. Police found and contained the suspect vehicle in the Tamarack Drive Extension area. Officers then began speaking with the man and deployed a crisis negotiator.There were no injuries.

As a result of the investigation, police charged the man with careless use of a firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Police ask anyone with information about the incident or video footage in the Tamarack Drive Extension area to call the RNC at
