PHILIPPINE National Police Chief Rommel Francisco Marbil has ordered all police units across the country to prioritize public safety and security as the country celebrates and welcomes the New Year . In a statement, Marbil assured the public of the police’s preparedness to untoward attacks including providing first aid for firecracker-related injuries and responding to fire incidents in collaboration with local fire protection units.
Marbil encouraged responsible observance of celebrations as he reminded the public about the dangers of firecrackers. “Fires, injuries, and fatalities can be avoided through vigilance and responsible behavior. We urge everyone to observe government-designated fireworks zones and community display areas and refrain from using banned or unsafe pyrotechnics,” Marbil said. Marbil also reiterated the PNP’s commitment to ensuring the smooth travel for holiday returnees.
