The Philippine National Police (PNP) has reported 18 instances of indiscriminate firing ahead of New Year's 2025, resulting in four injuries and 13 arrests. Most arrests occurred in Calabarzon, with others in Northern Mindanao and Metro Manila, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula. The PNP confiscated nine firearms and monitored four stray bullet incidents.

The Philippine National Police on Tuesday said it has monitored 18 indiscriminate firing incidents ahead of New Year 2025.In an update, the PNP said four people were reported injured in these incidents, and 13 persons have been arrested for indiscriminate discharge of firearms.Most of the arrests were reported in Calabarzon with seven, followed by Northern Mindanao with two, and Metro Manila, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula with one each.

Four incidents of stray bullets have been monitored, including three in Metro Manila and one in Zamboanga Peninsula.The PNP on Sunday said its units nationwide are on heightened alert to ensure public safety and response to emergencies amid the New Year celebration.“We have mobilized our police units to maintain peace and order during New Year celebrations and ensure the safety of travelers heading home,” PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil said.
