Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has been asked whether the public service will be given the opportunity to work on Australia Day amid ongoing debate over the January 26 public holiday.
Mr Albanese appeared on KIIS 106.5 on Friday where he was asked whether he was allowing the public service to work on the January 26 public holiday and take a different day off instead."It's up to each of the departments, like it's up to employers in other areas as well," he told Kyle and Jackie O.
The Prime Minister will be in Canberra with a citizenship ceremony locked in on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. “Each year our stores remain open on the 26th of January so for many of our team members it is a normal working day however, as a public holiday, it is voluntary,” the spokesperson said.
