PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's fruitful visit to China, which saw the signing of 19 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) amounting to RM170bil, will boost Malaysia's economic growth for the long term, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

In his congratulatory post, the MCA president said that a total of 19 MOUs had been signed between both Malaysian and Chinese corporations, with investment amounting to RM170bil.

"The Prime Minister announced this at the Malaysia-China Business Summit in Beijing, adding that the RM170bil investment pledged by Chinese firms, is the highest ever in the country's history. "Congratulations to the Prime Minister for such a fruitful visit which will surely boost economic growth for the long-term," he said in a Facebook post today .

Earlier, Anwar said that among the highlights would be the development of an high-technology automotive valley in Tanjung Malim focusing on new energy vehicles.He held a session earlier with about 50 Chinese captains of industry where he pitched Malaysia's advantages. Anwar's maiden visit to China as Prime Minister was backed by a 200-member trade delegation from Malaysia.
