HAINAN (China): Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has arrived in the southern China island province on his maiden visit to the republic as Prime Minister.
He will attend the Boao Forum for Asia , likened by some to Asia's version of the Davos World Economic Forum.
Anwar, who is scheduled to speak at the plenary session on Thursday , was accompanied by Transport Minister Anthony Loke and Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming. The BFA is a non-governmental and non-profit international organisation initiated by 29 member states and Boao is the permanent venue for the annual conference.
Apart from Anwar, other leaders expected at the BFA are Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Spain's Pedro Sanchez, Ivory Coast's Patrick Jerome Achi and Kazakhstan's Alikhan Smailov.International Monetary Fund managing director Kristalina Georgieva is also expected to be present at the event which ends on Friday.
