Sheldon Keefe has yet to win a playoff series in the NHL. He has coached the Maple Leafs to eight post-season victories, total. That should change. From simmonssteve: Playoffs should be Coach Keefe's coming out party
Begin with Keefe and a roster nothing like anything he has had before.
You don’t make those kinds of leaps in important categories without quality coaching. You don’t alter the way in which you play — with so much star power up front — without a sound vision. Keefe has a lineup unlike any he has had before in his time with the Maple Leafs. That begins with having Ryan O’Reilly as a staple, as either a second-line centre with John Tavares moving to left wing or playing him as a third-line centre, if they want to go three-deep down the middle against a team that isn’t really three-deep at the position.
This will be on the coaching — who goes in, who goes where, and how it all works out. And then there are questions on defence. Lots of them.Article content
