PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating a shop assistant in Sungai Way for possible links to liquor smuggling syndicates after illicit beverages were found in a storeroom in a sundry shop there.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said police found and confiscated 264 cans of beer and 598 bottles of liquor in a raid on Monday .
"We also arrested a 34-year-old foreigner who was manning the shop for selling liquor without a licence," he said, adding policeThe suspect has been detained for seven days and the case is being investigated for smuggling. In a separate matter, police arrested a 27-year-old local woman and nine foreigners at a massage parlour in Kota Damansara.
ACP Nik Ezanee said the foreigners are aged 18 to 48 and were believed to have been employed as massage therapists and were waiting for customers when police raided the premises at 4.30pm on Aug 17. "The local woman was arrested for hiring foreigners without valid permits, while the foreigners were rounded up for not having valid documents and breaking recovery movement control order rules," he said.
